Sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) is a hexamer composition (NaPO3) 6. Sodium hexametaphosphate from the trade is usually a mixture of metaphosphate polymers, of which the hexamer is one, and usually a compound called by this name. This is more properly termed sodium polymetaphosphate.
